Quantum Performance Bands, or Q-Bands, are a Resistance Performance/ Rehab Training tool that helps with improving functional strength and power patterns, and programming coordination/ alignment of the body. This movement enhancement tool brings a plethora of benefits to both the athlete and the health practitioners: physical therapist, athletic trainers, biomechanists, and personal trainers. The band system attaches to multiple points (waist, wrists, thighs, ankles, and more) that allows for resisted movements and exercises to increase core activation while targeting specific areas on an athlete’s body. The band system is very versatile as it can be used in any setting or environment, and it allows for medical professionals to add resistance to their training/ rehabilitative protocols and progressions.

     Dr. Andy Barr, DPT has been working in professional sport, with elite athletes across the NBA–WNBA–EPL–MLS–NFL for over 20 years. His unique experience across different sports has led him to build Quantum Performance and to developing a system that allows for creative resistance custom tailored to an athlete’s specific needs. Fundamental to Dr. Barr’s custom approach is engaging an athlete’s core/ center of mass to decrease injury potential and enhance performance. Research evidence suggests that the core is more activated when resistance bands are applied across the body.

            Dr. Barr has a very creative mind and has always been interested in emerging sports technologies. He has utilized many products and grew tired of waiting for a product that allowed him to bring even more value to the athletes he was working with.

While working with band systems for many years, Andy needed something more… he wanted something that was all encompassing for an athlete to hit both a very specific region of the body and the entire general body as a whole—“Zoomed in and zoomed out.”  He also wanted the product to impact an athlete’s coordination / motor control of the whole body, with different attachments to be applied to different parts of the body. Something that was of very high quality and trustworthy for athletes to use, with durability and mindfulness built into the product.
